The P5W DH Deluxe HowTo

This HowTo attempts to describe all aspects of the Linux compatibility of an Asus P5W DH Deluxe mainboard and a Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU.

Keep in mind that most of this stuff was written with kernel 2.6.18-mm1 in mind =)

The Hardware:

SATA	All SATA ports are working perfectly fine in AHCI mode. [read more]
IDE	The ICH7 IDE port works just fine, but the second IDE controller is causing problems [read more]
PCI Express	The only PCIe device I own is an nvidia graphics cards, which works perfectly fine.
Hardware Monitoring / lm-sensors	Works perfectly, but currently needs some patches. [read more]
Onboard WLAN	Driver does not compile with any recent kernel. [read more]
Onboard LAN	Works but has problems... [read more]
Onboard Sound	Works fine with the Intel HDA Alsa driver.
Remote Control	Works fine with licrd, but currently needs some patches. [read more]

The Software:

I'm currently running kernel 2.6.19-rc3 with coretemp patches (see lm-sensors mailing list) applied.

Together with BIOS 1503, the Asus P5W DH Deluxe provides an execellent hardware base (if you ignore the cursed sky2 NICs).
