BIOS & ACPI
BIOS
From what I can tell, the R55 laptop behaves a good deal better than my trusty P30 when it comes to ACPI suspend / resume.

I recommend installing the latest available BIOS, at the time of writing this would be the version DFCC.

For your convenience I provide a bootable .iso image containing said update:
Samsung-R55-DFCC.iso (md5sum)

Just cd into the CD-ROM drive (should be R:) and run the file labeled DFCC.EXE.
THE CD IS PROVIDED AS IS, USE AT OWN RISK
ACPI
I've tried suspend-to-ram (echo "mem" > /sys/power/state) with mixed results. The machine would wake up after pressig the power button but the screen stays off. When suspending from inside X11, the closed-source NVIDIA driver revives the screen ;)

Always use the latest available kernel whe trying this!
